I strive to make metal more organic through my sculpture. I continue to examine the dynamic between the masculine and the feminine, and work to create a tension between the material and the subject. This examination has lead to a body of work demonstrating that metal can be transformed in to a fabric-like form. This study continues to lead me in new directions with metal.
The production of my commercial work helps me hone in on my skills in welding and traditional fabrication. The technical procedures involved in these projects serves to bolster my knowledge of the material and the process.
Due to the increasing prices for steel, scrap metal will most likely become obsolete. The forge I am currently building is a tool traditionally used by blacksmiths. This will enable me to experiment and create objects which represent the found objects I currently incorporate into my work.
